The Riviera Scavenger Hunt
The points are just the excuse. The real goal is to get out into the Riviera together, off the usual path and out of your comfort zones, and come back to the villa with the kind of stories you'll still be telling years from now.
Amazing Race style across the coast. Two teams of two, Lawrence moderating on the road. Menton, Nice, Eze, a dash across the border into Italy: chase the tasks, but the adventure and the memories are the actual prize. Win it if you can, but make it count either way.
The basics
- When: Sunday 5 July, 9:00 to 12:30 (3.5 hours). Submissions for points end at 12:30.
- Where: Across the region: Menton, Nice, Eze, Sainte-Agnes, a dash into Italy, anywhere reachable. Taxis, trains, walking, all fair game.
- Submissions: All entries posted to the dedicated WhatsApp group. Lawrence moderates remotely and confirms or rejects each claim in real time.

5 Trivial finds on foot in Menton
- 1 Hold up a Menton lemon.
- 2 A street sign that says "Menton".
- 3 A pastel facade with coloured shutters.
- 4 The sea, shot from the promenade.
- 5 A "Jardin" sign (Menton, the garden city).
- 6 Something blue-and-white striped.
10 A little legwork around Menton
- 7 Team Both of you with a fresh pastry from a boulangerie.
- 8 Team A cafe table, two espressos, both of you in frame.
- 9 The old-town facades of Menton from the harbour or water.
- 10 The steps or parvis of Basilique Saint-Michel.
- 11 A produce stall at the Marche des Halles.

- 20 Team Both of you in the medieval village of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin (short hop, about 10 min).
50 The treks and big plays (taxi or long train)
- 21 Team Both of you on the blue chairs of the Promenade des Anglais, Nice (about 30 min by train).
- 22 Team Both of you in the hilltop village of Eze (about 40 min, the classic Riviera climb).
- 23 Team Both of you in Sainte-Agnes, the highest coastal village in Europe, with the view back over Menton.
- 24 Team Cross into Italy and reach Ventimiglia, with an Italian street sign and both of you in frame.
- 25 Team The triple-town run: both of you photographed in three different towns, posted as one entry.
100 The unhinged ones
- 26 Team Teach a total stranger the StudioHawk SOURCE framework, then film them explaining what each letter stands for: Structure, Offsite, Uniqueness, Relevancy, Credibility, Evaluation.
- 27 Team The lemon trade-up. Start with a single Menton lemon and barter your way up with strangers to the most valuable or ridiculous object you can get by 12:30. Film every trade.
- 28 Team Busk for a tip. Perform a 30-second act in a public square (a song, a dance, a full dramatic Riviera serenade) until a stranger claps or drops you a coin. Both performing, filmed start to finish.
300 The headliner
- 29 Team Recreate this Instagram edit. Cut your day's footage into one reel that recreates the editing style below: the pace, the jump cuts, the captions, the transitions, the energy. One reel per team, posted to the group by 12:30. This is the big swing, worth more than any other single task.

Winning
- Highest total at 12:30 takes it. Tie-breaker: most tasks completed.
- Both teams reconvene at the villa for lunch, a recap of the adventures, and the official kick-off at 2:30pm.
