Arrival — Saturday, July 4

Settle In

Everyone arrives and gets settled at the villa. No agenda, just relax.

Getting There

Anthony + Julia — flying into Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE). Landing at 9:40 AM. Picking up a 5-seater rental car at the airport (3 free seats after the two of them).

Harry, Alej & Sophie — flying into Nice. Landing at 10:45 AM.

Approx. 30–45 min drive along the coast to Menton.

After Landing — Hang Out in Nice

Villa check-in is 5 PM (earlier if available — text Aymen on landing to see; details under Villa Check-In below). Anthony + Julia land 9:40, everyone else 10:45 — grab lunch in Nice or hit a beach club, then head down to Menton together in Anthony's rental.

💶 Cash to pick up in Nice — ~480 € total: 360 € for Eric (Sylvie's recommended driver, Day 2 + Day 3) + ~120 € for the Monaco taxi back from Monte Carlo. Hit an ATM before heading down to Menton.

Medieval village perched on a cliff between Nice and Menton. Walk the lanes, take in the view from the Jardin Exotique, then continue down the coast.

Drive to Menton with Anthony 5 of us in 1 car

Anthony's 5-seater rental fits the whole Saturday arrival — Anthony + Julia + Harry + Alej + Sophie. Either drive straight to Menton if check-in's available, or hang in Nice first and head down together later.

By car: the address is foot access only. For vehicles, ask for directions to the St Michel de Menton campsite, then down a narrow, steep concrete path with 3 hairpin bends.

Check-in method: Host greets you.

How to get inside: Airbnb sends instructions 48 hours before check-in.

🚐 Still doable in a van, but reviews say it's best with a small car or off-road vehicle. One reviewer: "we had a big van and had to park further away."
⚠️ Heads up on stairs — it's around 191 stairs down to the town centre and train. Worth it for the view, but pack good walking shoes.

Amazing Race style across the Riviera. Two teams of two race across Menton, Nice, Monaco, Eze and beyond, claiming tasks for points by photo and video. First come, first served. Lawrence moderates remotely from the road.

⏰ 6:30 PM — pizza team arrives with a waiter to set up. Aperitivo kicks off at 7:30 PM.
🍕 Quick overview from the host — small aperitivo with appetizers to share to start, then the "pizza tasting" begins. One pizza prepared at a time like a tasting menu, each sliced into 6 or 8 pieces and served one by one by the waiter. Finishing with dessert.

⚠️ Heads up — it's a fair haul. Antibes is past Nice (further west than Monaco), so you'd be driving roughly 1 hour out + 1 hour back east to make the 7:30 PM Loulou Pirate dinner back in Menton. Worth it for the spot, but build in plenty of buffer.

1:30 onwards — Afternoon
